My First BJD (Ball Jointed Doll) Ieva

I was so excited to get my very first Ball Jointed Doll today, or BJD as they are known in the doll world. I ordered her from Denver Doll and she is Yao by Resin Soul. I have had her own name picked out for her from the day I ordered her. It is Ieva, pronounced Ye-va. It took her only about a week to arrive from the US and here is how she came, all encased in a satin drawstring bag.















Opening the bag with great anticipation, I was delighted to find a beautiful blue eyed marvelously sculpted doll.
Once I unwrapped her hands, I found elegant fingers with long nails. She is a white skinned gal, a faun, with hoofed feet and horns.









Here's a look at her blue eyes. Judging from the expression on her face though, I really don't think she likes them. That's why I bought her some "Harvest" eyes. I also at the same time bought some green eyes for the Yu doll I have coming in a few weeks via Feather Fall.







Here's Ieva's first shot with her Harvest eyes and her horns on. Fresh out of the box with no face-up, that is to say, no make up or blushing. I will be doing that myself once I get the Mr. Super Clear from the US, for "fixing" the colouring. Her eye colour didn't stay this way for long though. I was anxious to try the green eyes and so I put one in, and actually liked the two different coloured eyes and so I have left it that way for now. I once knew a boy who had two different coloured eyes. I loved the look and it seemed to really suit Ieva.

Ieva's first day in her forever home was actually quite trying. No sooner was she unpacked before she submitted to several intrusive procedures. She was restrung and actually had to sit for many wig fittings. I decided to make my own wig for her and had to fit her for a wig cap and try the wig on many times during its making to ensure that it was fitting correctly during the sewing of it. But she survived it all, and tried to hide her disappointment that there was no new dress waiting for her welcoming. Actually, she didn't mind being naked during the whole process, she is a pretty natural gal after all, close to nature. So finally, she gets to relax and have a drink with her new owners, which is a nightly ritual for relaxing after a hard day. She is actually having white wine, but the only glass available in her size was a martini glass, but honestly, she is not that heavy of a drinker.




After being naked all day and night while her wig was being made, she finally got a complete look to go with her new wig. This is just a wrap dress made out of an old scrap piece of damask material with a velvet ribbon wrapped around, but it goes well with her green and Harvest eyes and will work for now, until I can sew up something fabulous. This photo not only shows off her nice new wig and dress but also her wonderful cloven hooves.











New wigs are great but they take a while to train. This one needs a bit of work as the bangs constantly get in Ieva's eyes. Now she didn't drink too much (honest), she is just pushing the bangs out of her eyes. Perhaps a pretty bobby pin would help. I'll look for one tomorrow.















Ieva wanted me to style her wig with a bit of a pin up girl roll. She wanted to show off her ears. They are lovely ears aren't they?


















Ahhh finally putting the hooves up and reclining. "I think I'll have another glass of wine, if you don't mind."













Here's Ieva's beautiful Harvest eye up close. Oops, we seem to have a bit of an eye putty over spill. Well, it *has* been a long day. We'll fix it tomorrow. She is a natural beauty, however soon she will have her face up done and she'll look even more terrific, if that's possible. After this glass of wine, she'll be going to bed. Maybe tomorrow she'll get a new dress, or at least something a little more permanent. Maybe she'll check out the studio or help me at the auction tomorrow. We'll see what the day brings.


Ahhh time for bed. I'm so excited to have Ieva home finally, and she is excited to be here and start her life as an artist's companion and guinea pig of sorts. She hopes she can sleep tonight although her head will be filled with ideas about what kind of adventures she will get up to and the wonderful wardrobe that will be in her future. Frankly so will mine. Shhhhh... I think she finally drifted off. Good night.
